[00:00:00] Speaker A: This is the All1Nerds podcast where we are bridging the gap between the stethoscope and the soul and getting back to the human side of healthcare.
[00:00:15] Speaker A: Powered by Riverside.
[00:00:33] Speaker A: Welcome back to the All One Nurse Podcast where I'm your host, Nurse Chanel Tompkins. And we are still bridging the gap between the stethoscope and the soul. And I am just so excited to still have you here for this four part series of Faith Over Fear. And we're in part three.
We're in part three and we're going to talk about receiving grace in a fresh start. And I just want to tell you that first of all, if you're not a subscriber, please consider subscribing to the podcast and of course sharing this podcast with others as well as leave a five star review on the podcast from wherever you're tuning in from like Spotify or Apple podcasts, because that'll that will allow will allow all oners to reach more listeners.
And for that I say thank you. This series is super important to me because during this time of the year.
[00:01:34] Speaker A: There is a lot that transpires just with individuals on a personal level.
Whether it's family dynamics, whether it's dealing with your school, the nursing program, whatever it is your job you may have, maybe in your year of nursing, your year of being in your nursing career. Kudos to you. But this is a challenging time nonetheless, as the season has changed, the days are shorter and as evidenced by increase in stress, financial stress, whether it's for the holidays or dealing with grief because you may have lost loved ones around this time, or whatever it may be, it has just been upon my heart to come on All One Nurse platform and.
[00:02:27] Speaker A: Talk about it and give you something that has helped me, which is spiritual and practical steps to help move life forward in a positive way. So yes, this All Oneness space is where nurses tell their journeys, provide real stories about their own nursing journeys, and they talk about their personal challenges and motivation, whether it's coming through the nursing program or their role as a nurse. And most of all, I aim to provide an outlet for nursing students and new nurses who are just trying to navigate the nursing field and feel like you're alone or that you're dealing with these things and nobody knows, nobody understands. But I want you to know that when you do, there are plenty of nurses who are really wanting to provide the mentorship that's needed to our newest generation of nursing nurses. And I welcome those nurses onto this platform as well to tell about their own platforms and to give advice and motivation and inspiration to our newest nursing professionals, regardless of what the government may say. And that's a topic for another day. But this space is for you no matter where you are in your nursing journey. But especially for my nursing students, students in my first year or maybe even second year nursing grads who are just trying to navigate the healthcare field and realizing, hey, this is not for me on this one particular unit. So how do I navigate and go to another unit without having to leave the organization altogether? Or now I'm ready to branch off and go into travel nursing. What are my next steps and having the confidence to take that next step. So all one nurse is here just for you. So Lesson Receiving God's Grace welcome to part three of our Faith Over Fear series. Receiving grace and a fresh start. Now if you want to go back, if you have not had the chance to tune in to the first two parts of our Faith Over Fear series, in part one we talked about releasing fear and doubt.
And one thing that I pointed out was that our mind tries to protect us. And usually when you continue to be consistent and you do it afraid and I even say now do it anointed, then it's like your mind is like oh okay, we can do this. This is possible, it is safe. And the question that I left you with, left listeners with in part one was what thoughts are you rehearsing today that God never spoke?
And I call that stinking thinking as my counselor would tell me or self proclaimed counselor. And then in part two we talked about replacing fear with faith and having joy in the journey and choosing faith because ultimately to be grateful or to be ungrateful, to be generous or to be stingy. Is sting a choice? It's a choice. And the thought that I left my listeners with to provoke some self reflection is in that episode was what would you do differently if you believed God was already preparing your breakthrough? So how would you go about your day differently if you knew God had already prepared you for your breakthrough knowing that hey, I am going to get my licensure in year 2026.
I am going to have a wonderful nursing career on the NICU unit or in the NICU unit? Like how would you show up differently if you knew all was well? I don't know if that was a good example with the nicu. I have no experience in NICU personally, but we're talking about repentance and renewal and the freedom that comes with when you let go here in part three we're going to be talking about repentance, renewal, renewal and the freedom that comes when we let go of guilt and embrace God's grace. So let's say a quick prayer and let's get right into it. Father, thank you for your grace and your mercy. Lord, may you breathe on this episode and that you will touch every, every heart of every listener tuning in today.
God, I ask for your strength on today. I ask for your wisdom, your guidance. Lord, I ask that anxiety and depression would be at an all time low. And Lord, that their ability to look to you for their help and their strength is at an all time high. Their ability to be courageous. Their ability to choose gratitude. Their ability, ability to during difficult situations. Lord, I pray that you just go before them right now, Lord, in all things. And we just thank you for your grace and your mercy and Lord, that we don't have to do anything, anything because you give it to us freely.
So God, go before us as we learn about receiving grace and a fresh start in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
Now with all one nurse. Yes, we're talking about God on these series. And to me, that is my sole foundation is just having a real, a good solid foundation to do the impossible.
And with God, nothing is impossible. And why this series is so important is because just like with an iPhone, the creator, Apple knows that iPhone in and out.
So it knows what it can do.
And just like with us, we have a creator and our creator knows us in and out.
And so there is nothing that you can do that the creator will be surprised about.
There is nothing that you can do that will minimize your value in the creator's eyes.
Because you are wonderfully made. You are chosen. You are a peculiar, peculiar people. I can't say that word. I'm taking that out. And so what does your creator say about you?
The main thing that he says is that you are forgiven. So for my students, as you prepare for graduation, you may carry guilt, missed opportunities, mistakes, struggles. Maybe you feel like you didn't study enough or you weren't the perfect student or you let fear steal your confidence.
But hear me clearly. Repentance is not condemnation. It is freedom. It's not about staying stuck in shame. It's about releasing it and stepping into the fresh start that God has already prepared for you. And that is the same if you're not a student and you've already graduated. Maybe you haven't passed boards yet, or maybe you're in your nursing role and you're six months in, a year in, and you're just like I am struggling.
Just know that repentance is about releasing it and stepping into a fresh start. God has already prepared for you. So what does repentance and grace look like? So let's put some scripture on it.
[00:10:30] Speaker A: 2 Corinthians, chapter 12, verse 9 through 10, is written by the Apostle Paul in his letter to the church of Corinth. And Paul shares how God's response responds to his own struggles. And God says, my grace is sufficient for you. My power is made perfect in weakness. So Paul reminds us that even in our weakness, God's strength is revealed.
For nurses and students, this is a powerful. A powerful truth that your limitations are not the end. They are the place where God's grace shows up.
Like, truly, like, when you're at wit's end. It's like, okay, God, I don't know what to do. I don't know how I'm gonna make it. That's when God said, okay, now I can do my thing. Now I can do my thing. And then when we take a look at First John, chapter one, verse nine, it is the apostle John who is known as the disciple whom Jesus loved. And he assures believers that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
So this verse is a promise of restoration, where confession isn't about shame, it's about freedom and cleansing, a fresh start for your spirit. And then Romans 8:1, Paul again writes to believers in Rome, declaring, there is therefore no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. And this is a bold reminder that guilt and shame have no authority over you when you are in Christ. And as you step into exams, clinicals, or new roles, you can walk without condemnation, knowing you are covered by grace.
And then I love Psalms 103:12, where King David, in his Psalm of Praise, he celebrates God's mercy. And he says, as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. And this poetic image shows the complete removal of sin in infinite distance, like you can't even measure it. And when God forgives, he doesn't hold it against you.
Your past mistakes are gone, and you are free to move forward. Like, move forward. And repenting means acknowledging our flaws, forgiving ourselves, and moving forward with a renewed spirit. Not just moving forward, but with a renewed spirit. It's like saying, yes, I made mistakes, but I'm not defined by them. I am defined by God's grace.
So for nurses and students, this is Powerful, because the truth is you will make mistakes, you will doubt yourself. But grace is the gift that allows you to rise again, stronger, wiser, and more compassionate. And so my question for you, because you know I have a question.
I'm big on my questions here.
The question is, what guilt or shame are you carrying that God has already forgiven? Why hold on to what he has released?
Take a moment, write it down.
If you need to release it today, write it down and release it today.
Now, as we step into the Christmas season, we have to remember that Christmas is about God sending his son to redeem us. And grace is the greatest gift. And as you step into graduation, into your next chapter of your nursing career or life, receive that gift of freedom.
Don't carry yesterday's burden into tomorrow's calling. Walk boldly into your purpose, knowing that you are forgiving, forgiven, equipped, and you're chosen.
[00:14:36] Speaker A: So I know many of you listening are juggling exams, clinicals, family responsibilities, financial stress, workplace issues, workplace challenges. You're tired, you're stretched thin. You wonder if you're even cut out for this. But let me remind you that you are not alone. And you are part of a community of nurses who have walked this road before you, including myself, going on 15 years in. And more importantly, you are held by a God who equips you for every step. A God who created you, and he knows you and inside and out. So grace is not just about forgiveness. It's about empowerment. It's about walking into your nclex, your first job, your patient care, moments with confidence that your weakness is the very place that God's strength shows up. And I truly can attest to this as I am walking in this podcasting space. And over time, it's like just showing up, continuing to be steady, continuing to be consistent. It allows me to build my confidence in this space, to not know what each interview is going to entail, but have faith that, hey, as long as I'm doing it, I'm creating that foundation and that consistency. And that's where you build momentum. And it's not always about being motivated. It's just about being consistent. When I choose to continue to show up and be consistent in the small things, that is where the impact comes from. That is where the momentum is built. That is where God can do his best work. When I am at ends wit, and I'm like, God, I need you. God, I need a team. God, I need help. And God is like, I've got you. And so everything that I desire, that all one earth desires for you.
Hey, I am also experiencing some of those same things because guess what? We're human.
So if you take the one person that you, I don't want to say glorify, but you take Beyonce, you take whoever your favorite singer is, whoever your favorite actor or actress is, if you take them and you could honestly spend a day in their shoes, guess what?
They're dealing with the same emotions, the same life circumstances that you are dealing with as a human being. You cannot put a price on anxiety, depression. You cannot put a price on what true love really feels like. You cannot put a price on community and having unity and truly supporting one another. So here at all One nurse, I just want you to know that we are here for you.
And as I wrap up this episode, I want you to check out all One Nurses Link tree where we're starting a mentorship cohort at the end of January. Yes, it is 12 weeks, but it's only one hour a week. And we're going to dive into different nursing topics, but most of all, we're coming together as a community and we're going to talk about some wins, some barriers, some roundtable topics, and put some scripture on it, right?
What can help you stay grounded as you're navigating this thing called life?
Thank you for choosing nursing. Thank you for choosing the healthcare space. But we're all, we're all going to be a patient if we have not already been a patient, if we're not currently a patient. We're all going to experience what that is like if we just keep living.
So that's why I want to get back to the human side of healthcare and make sure that you are your best self as you have chosen a career. That is pretty selfless when you think about all the tasks that nurses have to do. And I know that I will get to rambling. So instead of rambling, I am going to end with a prayer. But first, part four is going to be talking about refocusing on your assignment.
Hey, let's get refocused. It's a good way to end 2025 and begin 2026.
And I've heard someone say, do not start the day until you've planned it.
Do not start the week until you've planned it, and do not start the year until you've planned it. Now, will things go as planned?
No, sometimes they don't. And sometimes you supersede. Super supersede the plans that you have set but have it planned out. Have a vision, have a reason to get up in the morning, have a purpose and going back to releasing your fear and doubts. If God has already. If you believed that God has already met that need, that challenge, and you've already came out a winner, then guess what? Move as if you're already winning. Dr. Darius Daniels says it best.
Either way, I'm winning. Whether you're in your challenges, whether it's doing a challenging season, whether it's doing a season of triumph, you may be getting awards, you may be doing very well. Because we have to learn how to move and mourn at the same time. Because that's just life.
It's life. We're not going to put more or less on it. But again, I'm not a counselor and I do not want to rant on here, okay? So check on your loved ones. Remember that freedom comes with forgiveness. Forgive yourself, forgive others. Not for them, but for you.
And just know that you are forgiven. And when we talk about a fresh start, I want to share something that I share every Sunday.
And my church actually shares this every Sunday as they're wrapping up service. That making a fresh start and getting to know Jesus for yourself or inviting Jesus into your life to have a relationship with him. It is as easy as abc. The A stands for admit. Admit that you sin. And B is believed. Believe that Jesus died on the cross for your sins and rose again with all power in his hands.
And then C is to choose.
Choose to live the way that God wants us to instead of how we want to. Because a lot of times what we want may not necessarily be good for us and we all have a sinful nature or else we will be perfect and we will be like God and we will not need a God. But ultimately, that is the fresh start. And if you've decided to make that fresh start today, then you can simply repeat after me. Father, thank you for sending your son Jesus to die on a cross and rise again. Make me new and give me a fresh start to live for you. Amen. Simple. And if you're wondering what the next steps are, then you should get planted in your local church. And most importantly, get a Bible. If you don't have one, start reading it and know what it says for yourself. You choosing to accept Christ in your life is for you. And I'm excited if you made that fresh start today because the angels in heaven are like, celebrating too. So you're like, hey, one less soul that's lost.
And welcome home my brother or my sister.
And I hope that this episode has truly blessed you again. Check on your loved ones As I show up in this podcast space, I want to be transparent, but I also want to be mindful of others. And I just know that there's been multiple occasions of people unaliving themselves.
One has rocked me to my core and if I think on it long enough I will probably cry. But.
[00:23:16] Speaker A: I am definitely, definitely processing it, knowing that you cannot dwell on what ifs should have known. If I knew, what could I have done?
And that's where Getting the help that you need if this is an event that has happened.
[00:23:36] Speaker A: To you.
Counseling, getting grounded and getting the practical tool Using the practical tools provided to us to give us the support that we need, don't be ashamed to do that.
If you are a loved one who has has experienced losing a friend or loved one.
[00:24:00] Speaker A: To unaliving themselves, or if you are in a position where you see yourself possibly making a permanent decision over a temporary situation, please seek help. I am going to add the information in the description below and let me also give you the helpline number. And so if you or someone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, it's very important to reach out for immediate support.
Immediate means like right now. Right now here in the US you can dial 988-to connect directly to the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. It's available 24. 7, is free and it's confidential.
Okay, just know that you don't have to carry this alone, whatever this is.
And speaking with someone right now can make a difference. Because sometimes we just want to be heard. Sometimes we just need to talk about it. We may need to hear ourselves.
But please 988 and if you're outside of the US call your local emergency line. Many regions have dedicated crisis lines that can provide immediate help. Okay, if this message spoke.
[00:25:34] Speaker A: If this message spoke to you in any way today, share it with a fellow nursing student or colleague who needs encouragement. And don't forget we have mentoring resources. The mentorship program, which you can sign up on the all1nurse.com website on its landing page or you can sign up via the All1Nurse link tree and all the details are going to be in the link below. And we also have devotionals.
A seven day devotional meant to refill your cup as a nurse and jumpstart you back on the right track of just getting grounded and moving forward is now on linktree as well. And just know that these resources are meant to help you thrive and not just survive.
That's the goal with all one Nurse. To take care of your whole self and to take care of others from a genuine, authentic space. Because you're not just becoming a nurse, you are becoming a light in healthcare. So keep walking in faith over fear and letting your light shine. Now, after part four, refocusing on your assignments and what success really looks like, we are going to hear from Bria Burley, one of the sweetest knowledgeable nurses I know and she is the founder of RN Prep Bestie and you can find her on TikTok RN Prep Bestie. And she is just, oh my God, I feel like we were like long lost cousins or something.
And so I can't wait for you to hear her episode.
[00:27:21] Speaker A: Not next week, but the week after next for when we get back to business with our nursing interviews and speaking with nursing guests. But we have some wonderful guests coming up and I'm excited because I'm also inviting nursing students and new nurses to get on the platform and the goal is to also go live, to have live sessions to where it's interactive, it's engaging, and to just go from there. So thank you. Riverside, which is a platform that I use to record and publish, well, what I use to record my all one nurse podcast episodes. And it's just been an awesome platform. If you're interested in using it, definitely click the link down in the podcast description for a couple of discounts right on the first month or two if I'm not mistaken. And so happy holidays.
I'll see you before Christmas and I'll see you in the last part of this four part series of Faith Over Fear.
Until next time.
[00:28:35] Speaker A: Sam.
