And stick around until the end of this episode because I've got some exciting news, some exciting updates to share with you that you don't want to miss. Now the lesson we live in a world that often measures success by titles, possessions, followers or achievements. But what if just what if true success looks different? What if true success looks different? Chanel, what are you talking about? What if it's not about how high you climb, but how faithful you walk? And what I'm talking about is world. World success versus Kingdom success.
[00:02:46] World success is about being seen, whereas kingdom success is about being faithful. So if you had to sit here with yourself a moment, which one do you feel like you are striving toward? Worldly success to be seen, or kingdom success to be faithful? I believe First Corinthians, chapter 1, verse 26:29 reminds us and says it best that brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards. Not many were influential, but many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise.
[00:03:32] God chose the weak Things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things and the things that are not, to nullify the things that are so that no one may boast before him. In Psalms 119, 105 says, Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path. And I pray this verse all the time. So what if your assignment is not just to be a great nurse, it's to be a faithful servant? And what does that look like? To glorify God in your work, to serve patients with compassion, and to walk in humility. So my question for you is this. What if your purpose isn't about doing something great, but about becoming someone faithful? This question, it just shifts the focus from achievement to character. It challenges us to see success not as an applause, but as alignment with our calling. And you know, I always say that nursing is my calling, right? Like, I don't work. I get to do this. Like, yes, it's a job. Pay me. I mean, yes, but even if I didn't get paid, I really have a heart for people just being honest. And everybody may not agree with this, but I truly have a heart for people that I do not like to see people suffering.
[00:04:58] If there is something that I can do in my role as a nurse to help alleviate the pain, to help support them through it. Now, as we celebrate the holidays and we think on the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, we have to remember that his mission was obedience, not status. He came humbly, yet fulfilled the greatest assignment. And that's the model for us to be more like Jesus, who he had faithful obedience even when it doesn't look glamorous.
[00:05:36] So here's a simple way to Compare World Success vs Kingdom Success in everyday life. So let's break it down the definition of world success. Think of wealth, fame, status and influence. And when you think of kingdom success, think of obedience to God, fulfilling your purpose and bearing fruit. And one thing, and one thing I want to add here is that when it comes to making the decision to be a better person, to want to achieve a goal, or God has given you this vision most of the times, and I am witness that God will send the right people to be a part of that vision. And these may be people that you have never met a day in your life, these are going to be people that you may least expect. Expect to be a part of your vision to help carry the vision through. But just know that as you're praying for wisdom and discernment, you may not know much about a person, but you can always tell from the fruit that they bear.
[00:06:38] And if a person doesn't bear good fruit, then you probably shouldn't align with that individual. And now let's keep going. Royal success focuses on self promotion and extreme external validation. So it's like looking at social media to validate me as a person. Like, I'm successful if I have a certain amount of followers. And that could never be more like, more false, because it's not about the followers you have, it's about the impact. Personally, I didn't even want to be in the forefront of all one Aries, but God said he could not use me if people did not know me. And so here I am. And so instead of world success that focuses on self promotion and external validation, I pray that we can keep our eyes on kingdom success, which means glorifying God, serving others, and being humble. And I listened to a speaker speak on how he was sitting on the stage and he was talking in a conference. And he said the year before, around the same time, he came to the conference as a certain person of status with a title. And they flew him there. They made sure that, you know, they dropped him off at the hotel, made sure his bags made it up to the room, they picked him up, they got him to the conference, met him at the door with a ceramic coffee cup with hot coffee. And now fast forward to this time. He's sitting on stage telling them about the story. And he's sitting there with a styrofoam cup of coffee because he explained that this time he booked his own flight. He had to find his own way to the hotel, his own transportation to the place where he was now at. And nobody met him with a. With a cup of coffee.
[00:08:35] And in fact, he asked someone upon entering the building if they had coffee. And someone pointed at. Pointed at the coffee in the corner, up against the wall. And so he fixed himself a cup of coffee, and there he was sitting on stage telling them the story.
[00:08:53] And the moral of the story is he basically says this is what he deserved, the styrofoam cup of coffee.
[00:09:02] So people will celebrate titles, but always remember that as individuals, we only deserve the styrofoam cup of coffee. And so I thought that was a very humble message that we can take with us as we go about fulfilling the vision or the purpose that we feel that God has given us. A lot of times it's based off our pain points in life. And because of that, we choose to become nurses and we choose to go out and want to make things better and want to serve others. But in all our getting, make sure that we get an understanding of who God is and who we are and that we always move with humility.
[00:09:46] And this is also something that I have to tell myself, because on the flip side is that it's okay to not shrink back either. So on the flip side of serving others and moving with humility, when you know that you're a humble person, it's okay to still show up and let God's light shine through you in the spaces that he allowed you to go be in.
[00:10:13] So getting back to the topic, when it comes to worldly success, how do we measure worldly success? Through titles, possessions, and again, like we said, followers. It could be followers. But kingdom success is measured through faithfulness, fruitfulness, obedience and love.
[00:10:32] Duration of worldly success is temporary. It's fleeting and it's unstable. You get counseled real quick, right? We've seen it. But kingdom success is eternal. It's rooted in God's promises. Like, nobody can take away the fact that God loves you, the fact that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and because of that event, our sins are forgiven and there's nothing we can do that minimizes who Jesus is in our lives or minimizes who God is, period. And then just moving forward, talking about identity. So I hope this is making sense and I hope this is resonating with you.
[00:11:12] So identity, Worldly success talks about career, accomplishments and appearance, what you look like, what it looks like highlight reels. But truly, kingdom success and real. What I consider real success is your identity in Christ, Your identity in being your own true, authentic self and who God has created you to be. Going back to the Apple phone, Apple products, nobody can talk about an Apple product more than the person who actually created it, which is Apple. They know all the ins and outs of their product. Same way with God. Nobody, not even you, can really talk about all the ins and outs of you.
[00:11:57] Because God created you so he knows you. He knew you before he formed you in your mother's womb. So that's just awesome within itself. Now, outcome. What is the outcome of worldly success? Here I have listed is anxiety, comparison and burnout. Those are all three.
[00:12:15] Three things that really, I believe, affects us in a very negative way. Because with anxiety, we can't get anything done. We're constantly anxious and our minds are fulfilled, filled with thoughts of what could happen that doesn't happen, that never happens. And then comparison is just a thief. You can't celebrate or be grateful for what you do have because you're too busy comparing your story to somebody else's story. But you don't know their pain and you don't know their walk and you don't even know the size of their shoes and if you can even fit in them if you had to walk in their shoes. And then of course, burnout.
[00:12:53] You can't really focus and move on or receive what God really has for you because you're burned out. You're trying to do everything by your own will and your own might. When God is really saying, okay, I just need you to come to me who is weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[00:13:12] He says his grace is sufficient, right? And then the outcome of kingdom success is peace, joy, fulfillment through alignment with God's will. And ultimately the goal that comes with worldly success is to be admired by people. Whereas the goal for kingdom success is to truly hear well done, my good and faithful servant. And guess what? If we really look at it, if we put God first, everything else minus the negative will come and what we're really striving for when it comes to success. So if we put kingdom success first, guess what? You're going to get some of that worldly success. The followers are going to come because they're going to be attracted to the light that you have to give to them. The, the job, the income, all these things will come when you really align yourself in a way that is aligning to the kingdom of God. And then we also have to be like the Hebrew boys. Even if he don' provide the things in which we thought he should, in their case saving them from the fire, then guess what? We still know he can. Right? Like we still know that he can. So thank you for spending this time with me. It means more than you know. And I hope that that today reminded you that success is not about titles or followers, but about faithfulness and walking in your assignment Now I've got a few exciting updates just for you.
